Unusual Jewelry
You may already be wearing rings on some of your fingers, but have you considered wearing a thumb ring? How about a ring on one of your toes? More and more people these days have body piercings as well, but seldom do you see them wearing anything other than a plain steel or silver ring. Don't be afraid to jazz things up a bit.
A properly-fitting thumb ring will be barely noticeable as you go about your day. You should be able to remove it with little effort, yet it should not slide off easily. Band rings or channel set rings are best for use as thumb rings, as rings do tend to twist around on your fingers, and the thumb is no exception. It could be rather irritating to have to reposition the ring on your thumb every few minutes, so getting a ring without a solitaire or gemstone in it is your best bet.
Toe rings are great for summery, open-toed shoes and sandals, as well as wearing on the beach or at the pool. Most toe rings are open on one side, much like a cuff bracelet, so you can adjust them to fit. However, you can purchase a sterling silver, solid gold, or gold-filled ring in a size small enough to slip over your toe as well. As with any ring, it should not be so loose as to easily slip off your toe.
Stick-on earrings are another fun item to experiment with. Inexpensive and colorful, you could stick one on the side of your nose to see what you might look like with a nose piercing, add two or three of them to your ear to see what you might look like with multiple ear piercings, put one just under your lower lip, stick some on your fingernails, or even scatter them across your bare shoulders for extra glitter on an evening out.
Nail jewelry is another item that has come into vogue in recent years. Best used on acrylic nails, the nail artist pierces the acrylic and attaches a dangling charm. These really capture attention. Another, less invasive form is similar to the stick-on earrings. The nail artist secures a tiny gem to the surface of the nail and usually paints a small design around it with nail polish, such as flower petals around a gem center. These can be secured to one nail on each hand or all ten, though that might end up being overkill.
Body piercings do not have to look the same for everyone. You may want to experiment with small, continuous hoop earrings or attach a charm to your body jewelry. Use your imagination and make a statement.
